Karol Szymanowski was born on October 6th, 1882 at Timashovka (Ukraine) and died of tuberculosis on March 29th, 1937, in a sanatorium in Lausanne, Switzerland. At the age of 7, Alicja was accepted by Prof. Krystyna Bocianowska to study at the Symanowski's School of Music in Warsaw. Two years later, she was admitted into the Central School of Music attached to Moscow's Conservatoire. During her 6 years in Moscow, she had the privileged to play in front of the late Tatiana Nikolayeva, Sviatoslav Richter and Emil Gilels.
