Chaka is the debut solo album by American R&B/funk singer Chaka Khan, released on the Warner Bros. Records label in 1978. Two singles were released from Chaka, the first being her anthemic solo debut "I'm Every Woman", one of Khan's signature tunes alongside "Ain't Nobody" (1983) and "I Feel For You" (1984).
Dance Classics of Chaka Khan is a compilation album of recordings by American R&B/funk singer Chaka Khan released on the Warner Bros. Records label in Japan in 1999.
WB 56 560. Netherlands. Records, Melodi Plak. For years I steered clear from this album because I was led to believe that "I'm Every Woman" was the only song worth listening to on this album. That is A Big Fat Lie! Now, I do admit that I love Chaka with Rufus better, but this album is nothing to sneeze at. Songs like "Sleep On It", "Some Love", and "A Woman In A Man's World"(with it's Rufus flavor), holds very nicely on this album. I Was Made To Love Him" is a little suspect, only because in my mind nobody can re-doe Stevie Wonder. With all that said, this album is so much.
An excellent album from Chaka Khan, mixing tingling uptempo tunes with her characteristic soaring, glorious vocals. Got to Be There" reached number five on the R&B charts, but it actually wasn't the album's high point. That was the marvelous "Be Bop Medley," which later led hardcore jazz purist Betty Carter to proclaim Khan the one female singer working outside the jazz arena with legitimate improvising credentials. 1999 compilation Dance Classics of Chaka Khan. The album track "Slow Dancin'" was a funky ballad duet with Rick James. On Billboard's charts, the album reached on Black Albums and on Pop Albums. The "Be Bop Medley" won producer Arif Mardin and Khan a Grammy Award in 1984 in the Best Vocal Arrangement For Two Or More Voices category.

Temporarily out of stock. And remasters of Chaka's WB catalogue would be most welcome. All the big hits are here: "I'm Every Woman," "Ain't Nobody," "I Feel For You," and "Through the Fire. This has a few songs which did not appear on Epiphany, including the similarly named "Love of a Lifetime" and "Love You All My Lifetime. My only quibbles are that there is nothing present from Chaka's 1982 self-titled album, and for some reason, "Clouds" continues to get overlooked. There are no liner notes or pictures in the insert, but the sound is good.
