The Audience's Listening is the debut studio album by Cut Chemist, released on Warner Bros. Records on July 11, 2006. It features guest appearances from Hymnal, Edan, Mr. Lif, and Thes One. After leaving Jurassic 5 in 2004, Cut Chemist spent 18 months working exclusively on the album, which he had already been working on for 2 years. He spent almost a year clearing samples.
The Audience's Listening. Label: Warner Records. Listening is everything that you'd expect from an instrumental hip-hop album in 2006: a feast of break beats, the occasional indie emcee guest spot, ironic vocal snippets and a glaze of retro futurism.

The Audience's Listening by Cut Chemist. Lucas "Cut Chemist" Macfadden, trip-hop pioneer and former Jurassic 5 DJ, covers a great deal of ground on his solo debut. Between the introductory words - "Start remembering what you hear" - and the final ones - "The record's over" - he gets through a dizzying number of samples and almost as many genres. The slicing and dicing, augmented by his scratching skills, yields the kind of specialist item that isn't normally found on major labels.
The Audience's Listening (2006). Album by Cut Chemist. Berimbau by Astrud Gilberto (1966). Storm by Cut Chemist feat. Edan and Mr. Lif. sampled. Santa and the Satellite by Buchanan & Goodman (1957). Paid in Full by Eric B. & Rakim (1987). Uranian Willy (Rewrite) by William S. Burroughs (1965).
