Cub Sport - This Is Our Vice mp3 flac
Cub Sport is an independent Australian alt-pop group from Brisbane, Queensland. The band is composed of vocalist Tim Nelson, t/vocalist Zoe Davis, Sam "Bolan" Netterfield and drummer Dan Puusaari. To date, the band has released three EPs and three studio albums. Originally formed by singer-songwriter Tim Nelson in 2010 as a backing band for his solo songs, the band released a self-titled debut EP that same year, Tim Nelson & The Cub Scouts.
For fans of Cub Sport the anticipation for a debut LP has been palpable for some time, but few will be able to contest that it wasn’t worth the wait. The Brisbane five-piece have released some seriously catchy singles over the past three or so years, most notably the tropical indie stylings of Evie in 2011 and Told You So a year later. Mess Me Up sits in the middle of the album as a perfect centrepiece, as well a poignant testament to the development of the band’s sound. It’s a softer tune featuring some deeply intense and melancholic vibes curated by Nelson’s almost incredibly melodic falcetto. There was definitely a danger heading into its release that This Is Our Vice would be all-too-familiar, and that Cub Sport would fall into the trap of sticking too close to the simple aspects of their style that made their previous singles so popular.
Album This Is Our Vice. Looking at the world is not inspiring, it's intimidating And I'm standing here, yeah I'm standing here and I'm just waiting Waiting 'til the time is right, that's what we're saying I don't know how it will go, I don't think I wanna know. You're my only friend You're my only friend.
With more electronic flourishes and a funkier vibe than their past efforts, the album shimmers, injecting tropical dance elements into its indie rock backbone. Produced by John Castle (Megan Washington, Vance Joy), This Is Our Vice opens and closes with a glimmer, a brightness borne of their sunny hometown, Brisbane. On the upbeat tracks, like standouts "I Can't Save You" and "I'm on Fire," the band sound like the young melding of the soothing harmonies and driving synths of Haim and the Killers. The plaintive moments hypnotize and lull like Troye Sivan.
