Sommartider", written by Per Gessle, is the song that throughout the years has become considered the signature song for Swedish pop group Gyllene Tider. It was released as a single on 18 June 1982. It was re-released both on 27 June 1989 and in 1995. The original version peaked at on the Swedish singles chart and at the Norwegian singles chart, and the 1989 version peaked at on the Swedish singles chart.

In 1985 Gyllene Tider officially broke up after releasing their only album in English; "The Heartland Cafe'". Per Gessle continued with a solo-career and formed Roxette with Marie Fredriksson in 1986. After the break-up several platinum-selling compilation albums were released and a number of live reunions have taken place, starting with the immensely popular Återtåget tour in 1996. They performed a three-song set, featuring the songs "Juni, Juli, Augusti", "Sommartider", and "När alla vännerna gått hem", with Marie Fredriksson and the rest of the Roxette band joining them on stage for the last number. In January 2013, the group announced a new album and summer tour in Sweden, both called "Dags att tänka på refrängen". The album was released on April 24, 2013, the 19-show sell out tour started on July 5, 2013 in Halmstad and ended August 10 in Eskilstuna.

The song was also released on 12'' and CDS at this time and they both included a remix of the song which is unavailable anywhere else.
Only 6.400 copies of the remix 12'' were made and it was released in both a die-cut picture sleeve and a regular picture sleeve. Only 1.900 copies of the CDS were made and this was Gyllene Tider's first release ever on CD.
In 1995 the single was once again supposed to be re-released (catalogue number 8651772) but the idea was later cancelled. A special promotion CDS was, however, released in only 1.500 copies and they all came in a plastic case without any inlay.
