Combining the influences of various soul/R&B artists from the past several decades, they became known for their sweet harmonies, smooth ballads and sensuous love songs. Early on, the group was introduced to Al B. Sure!, who helped them record the demo that resulted in their first recording contract with Island Records.

Ladae! was one of Motown's rare new discoveries in the 1990s. Their debut album was launched in 1994 on that label, but it is said that Ladae! parted ways with the label shortly afterwards due to misunderstandings about their creative freedom.
