Highway 61 Revisited. Released August 30, 1965. Highway 61 Revisited Tracklist. 1. Like a Rolling Stone Lyrics. Dylan’s sixth album, and first completely electric entry, went on to become the most critically lauded and commercially successful album of his illustrious career. Rolling Stone named it the fourth best album of all time and it was our 2nd Classic Album of the Week. Highway 61 Revisited Q&A. Taking the first, electric side of Bringing It All Back Home to its logical conclusion, Bob Dylan hired a full rock & roll band, featuring guitarist Michael Bloomfield, for Highway 61 Revisited. Opening with the epic "Like a Rolling Stone," Highway 61 Revisited careens through nine songs that range from reflective folk-rock ("Desolation Row") and blues ("It Takes a Lot to Laugh, It Takes a Train to Cry") to flat-out garage rock ("Tombstone Blues," "From a Buick 6," "Highway 61 Revisited")

In one sense all you need to know is that Highway 61 is the Blues Highway. But it is also rather helpful to know that Abraham was the name of Bob Dylan’s father. I have three versions of the song in my home – if there are more, I’m sorry I’m not a completist. There’s the version on the album of the same name, one on No Direction Home and a third on Before the Flood. The original I find hard to take these.

Bob Dylan ~ Highway 61 Revisited. Dylan was virtually gushing great songs when this masterpiece arrived in the summer of 1965. Good album, but still, by accident. I picked Highway 61 Revisted because I like the enjoy the title track. It was a good deal, and I figured I might as well expand my Dylan. I listened to it a day after I bought it, then went back and listened again. It doesn't really feel like it's from 1965. I figured this is supposed to be one of his more important albums, and has songs on it I like, so it was a good place to start poking around some more.

This album is electric in every sense, a nervy jangle that finds a taunting Bob Dylan fronting a full-fledged rock band and shedding his folkie past. Highway 61 Revisited Bob Dylan.
