Loudness (ラウドネス Raudonesu) is a Japanese heavy metal band formed in 1981 by guitarist Akira Takasaki and drummer Munetaka Higuchi. They were the first Japanese metal act signed to a major label in the United States, releasing twenty-six studio albums (five in America) and nine live albums by 2014 and reaching the Billboard Top 100 in their moment of maximum international popularity, as well as charting on Oricon dozens of times.
This was done to mock imports(foreign releases)that were always packaged in shrinkwrap whereas Japanese records were usually never sealed with shrinkwrap. Recorded at Onkio House & Sedic Studios, Tokyo; Sound City, Encore & Yamaha Studios, Los Angeles; Bearsville Studios, New York, March - May 1987. Mixed at Bearsville Studios, Bearsville, New York.

Though it failed to equal the mostly novelty-based sales of Loudness' first internationally distributed album Thunder in the East, Lightning Strikes had handily managed to translate the band's Japanese-bred heavy metal into a more easily digestible recipe for Western audiences. Because this progress didn't translate into sales, however, their record company, Atco, felt the need to force the band's hand toward an even more pop-metal direction when it came time to record their next effort
