Caspar Brötzmann is an electric guitar player. He was born in Wuppertal, Germany. While Brötzmann typically performs with the power trio lineup of (his early band), with guitar, bass guitar and drum set, he only uses rock and roll and heavy metal music as a basis for his music his attack on the instrument - explosive, obstreperous, large scale, textural, timbral - asserts the material facts of ier more bluntly than anyone else currently involved in rock".
Formed in 1981, Sonic Youth defied the proscriptive (if clandestine) dogma of the New York music scene immediately. Influenced equally by minimalist rock composer Glenn Branca and art punk bands like Crime and Swell Maps, the band challenged the status quo merely by existing. If the no-wave bands in New York were populated with overeducated, ultra-proficient jazzbos masquerading as inept scumfucks, Sonic Youth contributed a much needed populism to a scene whose erudite stuffiness would seem to prohibit the influence of true punks like the confrontational Black Flag or the dippy Ramones
EVOL is the third studio album by the American alternative rock band Sonic Youth. It was released in May 1986 by SST Records, the band's first release on the label. The album is notable for being the first with a new drummer, Steve Shelley, replacing Bob Bert, and for showing signs of the band's transition from their no wave past toward a greater pop sensibility.
Nomad is the fifth studio album by guitarist Jesse Cook. The album has guest appearances by Flora Purim and Kurt Neumann and Sam Llanas of the BoDeans.
