Andorra is the fourth studio album by Canadian musician Dan Snaith, released under the stage name Caribou. It is Snaith's fourth album and his second as Caribou, following The Milk of Human Kindness. It was released in Germany on August 17, 2007 and in the United Kingdom on August 20 by City Slang, and in the United States on August 21 by Merge. Andorra received critical acclaim and won the 2008 Polaris Music Prize. All tracks written by Dan Snaith.
Caribou moves to ANDORRA to continue his electronic folk concoctions, and with the jangly "Melody Day," he ensconces himself firmly in the 60s. "Sandy" continues that feel, while "She's The One" brings in a jittery romance. Desiree" goes from a whisper to a full-on harmonic build, and "Eli" offers pure, warm psych-pop. The gentle "Irene" stays quiet and understated, before "Niobe" gurgles with smooth electronics as it morphs over its long run time
Caribou's 2007 album Andorra won the 2008 Polaris Music Prize, and his DJ-influenced 2010 album Swim was on the 2010 Polaris Music Prize shortlist. In June 2013, Snaith's studio album, Jiaolong, released under the moniker Daphni, was longlisted for the 2013 Polaris Music Prize. Caribou's 2014 album Our Love received the IMPALA Album of the Year Award. In 2015, Up In Flames was selected by fans to be one of the ten albums re-issued by The Leaf Label as part of the label's 20th anniversary celebrations Personal life.
Andorra is just the kind of break with the past that he needed after 2005's relatively lackluster The Milk of Human Kindness. His first album on Merge, it's less a collection of innovative sounds and productions (like The Milk of Human Kindness) and more an album of songs, united by his motivations and desires. These tracks are first and foremost songs - and not just because Snaith is singing a bit more.
Andorra is a 2007 studio album by Dan Snaith, released under the stage name Caribou. It was released August 17, 2007 by City Slang and Merge Contents.
Much like Snaith's previous three studio albums, the album received critical acclaim and was the winner of the 2008 Polaris Music Prize.
