Very Necessary is the fourth studio album by rap/hip-hop group Salt-n-Pepa. The album followed three compilation albums. Released in October 12, 1993. The album went on to become the most successful rap album by a female act. It was produced by Cheryl James (Salt), Sandy Denton (Pepa), Dee Dee "Diedra" Roper (Spinderella), and Hurby Azor.
Brand New is the fifth and final studio album by rap trio Salt-n-Pepa. It was released on October 21, 1997, by Red Ant Entertainment. Red Ant filed for bankruptcy before the album was officially released. Salt-n-Pepa toured to support the album, although the album had no other promotion whatsoever. Brand New had two minor hits: "R U Ready" and "Gitty Up", the latter of which samples the Rick James song "Give It to Me Baby". The album was certified gold in the United States.
Very Necessary is the fourth studio album from Salt-N-Pepa. Four singles were released for the album, including the top ten hits Shoop and Whatta Man. None of Your Business is another single on the album and it won a Grammy for Best Rap Performance by a Duo or Group. The record became the group’s highest charting album on the Billboard 200 as it peaked at number four. It’s sold seven million copies worldwide and the five million in the US alone, becoming their best-selling album there. Very Necessary Q&A.
Salt-N-Pepa laid out their best music and bravest activism on Very Necessary, an album about love, agency, and take-no-shit femininity from the Queens rap trio. In 1990, Salt-N-Pepa walked onto the Hollywood set of The Arsenio Hall Show ready to spread awareness about HIV and AIDS. The men in the audience were fervently doing the signature Hall bark well beyond the call of the show.
Salt-N-Pepa (also stylized as Salt 'N' Pepa or Salt 'N Pepa) are an American hip-hop girl group formed in 1985. Group members included Salt (Cheryl James), Pepa (Sandra Denton), and DJ Spinderella (Deidra Roper). They were signed to Next Plateau Records and released their single "Push It" on March 8, 1987, which hit number one in 3 countries and became a Top Ten or Top Twenty hit in various other countries.
Album · 1993 · 13 Songs. Very Necessary Salt-N-Pepa. The Best Of Salt-N-Pepa: 20th Century Masters - The Millennium Collection. Hot, Cool & Vicious.
Salt-N-Pepa exhibited a lot of growth on Blacks' Magic (1990), their third album and, by far, best to date. For their follow-up, Very Necessary, released a long three and a half years later, in 1993, the ladies delivered a fairly similar album. Like its predecessor, Very Necessary boasts a pair of major hits ("Whatta Man," "Shoop") and a lot of fine album tracks
