Cluster (also reissued as Cluster 71) is the debut studio album by German electronic music outfit Cluster. It was recorded in 1971 and released the same year by record label Philips.
Moebius and Roedelius left after their third album "Eruption", continuing under the name Cluster while Schnitzler retained the rights to the name. Recently work originally recorded by Schnitzler's later band Eruption in 1971-72 has been released under the Kluster name. The lineup on these albums included Klaus Freudigmann and Wolfgang Seidel. In addition, a six LP set of previously unreleased music by this lineup, from tapes found by Freudigmann, was released by Qbico in 2009
In 2007, Schnitzler did indeed resurrect Kluster. Aided by American musician Michael Thomas Roe and Japanese musician Masato Ooyama (Ooy), Schnitzler released "Kluster 2007", a three CD set on the private label Real Vine Music (2008). The music was tagged as "global playing" as each member came from a different continent. Continuing in this direction, "Kluster 2008" (Real Vine Music, 2009) was released in early 2009. This one subtitled "Three Olympic Cities Mix". Again, stressing the global collaboration . To be found in the Black Dog book "Krautrock: Cosmic Rock and its Legacy" page 187. Zwei-Osterei is the second full-length album by German experimental music trio Kluster. The album title translates to English as "Two - Easter egg". Zwei-Osterei was recorded on February 23, 1970 at Rhenus-Studio, Gordorf, Germany. Zwei-Osterei was released in 1971 on the Schwann label, with a plastic embossed cover, including two multi fold-out inserts. Only 300 copies of the original LP were pressed and sold.
German ambient space-rock pioneers Kluster were originally a trio featuring Conrad Schnitzler, Hans-Joachim Roedelius, and Dieter Moebius. The trio's third album, Eruption, was a live recording of the band's last concert in 1971.
