If this sounds just a bit like McGuinn's 1996 album Live from Mars, that's because the two albums are a great deal alike; this is considerably bulkier, with a lot more traditional material and significantly longer stories, but the blend of music and storytelling is very much the same, and a few of McGuinn's anecdotes (especially the ones about the.

Roger McGuinn (born July 13, 1942, Chicago, Illinois, USA) is an American musician, best known for being the lead singer and lead guitarist of The Byrds.

Recorded in concert at the Fox Tucson Theater in Arizona, McGuinn tells tales of how iconic Byrds tunes like 'Chestnut Mare,' written with Jacques Levy, ‘Eight Miles High’ and ‘Ballad of Easy Rider’ were produced.

The first album in the set, "Roger McGuinn," made a very strong statement. The material was outstanding, blending folk and rock jazz, and country themes. Guest performers included former Byrds Gene Clark, David Crosby and Chris Hillman, along with Bruce Johnston, Spanky McFarlane and many others. Roger McGuinn's solo career never quit flew as high as the heyday of The Byrds but he managed to produce more than a handful from good to great albums. This collects McGuinn's first five solo albums (which bonus tracks using the Sundazed re-masters for the first two and re-masters without the bonus tracks for the three albums after those two key albums). His first solo album remains a very strong statement from McGuinn with some terrific material. We get two bonus tracks as part of the first album.

Roger McGuinn is the first full-length solo album by Roger McGuinn, released in 1973. This album was released after The Byrds' 1973 reunion album, on which all five founding members of the group participated in the sessions. McGuinn himself has stated that any outtakes left over from those sessions appeared here, but this was later proven to be false with the discovery of several alternate takes and at least one outtake in late 2009.
